A kind of softener after all that clinical white. Louis de Soissons' Shredded Wheat factory in Welwyn Garden City comes to mind.Peter Ashleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00027878122724846472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4228081722487474323.post-75434073701727760942010-01-21T10:56:24.978+00:002010-01-21T10:56:24.978+00:00Hels: Good question - I'm not sure of the answ...Hels: Good question - I'm not sure of the answer! I've come across a few examples of Deco/moderne houses in green and white, and some of these houses also have green roof tiles, which were popular in the 1930s and which lent themselves to a colour scheme of white walls and green window frames. Most of the Deco public buildings I know (cinemas, factories, office blocks, hotels) tend to be mainly white, with flashes of strong colour. But, outside the realm of Deco, quite a few traditional food shops - especially butchers and fishmongers, were covered with white and green tiles, and I wonder if there was a link - subliminal maybe - with hygiene and cleanliness.Philip Wilkinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04893714514416441572noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4228081722487474323.post-39231221151457667882010-01-21T10:17:56.082+00:002010-01-21T10:17:56.082+00:00What did green and white represent in Deco colour ...What did green and white represent in Deco colour schemes?
