The museums do close rather early and open rather late, although that's almost my only real criticism of them Jenny Woolfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16881781466502273314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4228081722487474323.post-85252414964620802682017-08-21T09:34:50.769+01:002017-08-21T09:34:50.769+01:00Perched high above the river below just "that...Perched high above the river below just "that bridge" is the very antithesis of the neat brick warehouse/museum. It's a coracle makers hut, rickety wooden and well-patched - and close to it a garden with a coracle among other wooden manufactures. Reminder that "plus ca change ..." etc. Thanks for the reminder of a fascinating area.per apsehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18269755913501559944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4228081722487474323.post-26274454270910315342017-08-20T16:36:43.988+01:002017-08-20T16:36:43.988+01:00Despite the attempts of the climate on this wester...Despite the attempts of the climate on this western side of Offa's Dyke to keep the Midlands Severn pretty full of moisture, I understand it has been slowly drying out since the Middle Ages, when they used to bring French wines up to Welshpool. Only occasionally are the Gloucester Hams flooded these days, I notice. A lot of discontinued ferries, etc. (such as Lower Lode, Upper Arley, Old Passage) with appropriate buildings and structures and interesting histories- these might be worth seeking out. The one thing I do remember are the sandstone walls. Is there still a lot of scraffiti on them, Philip? I remember inscribing my love for 'John' on the wall...'I will love John, til all time is gone'. We broke up a couple of weeks later. Such is teenage love! ;) Eileen Wrighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13807348224003585870noreply@blogger.com
